We were unlucky to have a new Video IPOD stolen from our JW Marriott Hotel bedroom in July this year, in California. At the time of the incident I completed a guest statement report at the hotel: they kept a copy and so did I. My insurance company asked me to report the matter to the police too. I filed a report, and returned home to the UK. Now the insurance company wants a copy of the police report. The Santa Monica Police Department records section needs $1.60 by check/cheque or money order. I’ve emailed the hotel general manager to ask him to help me, but he hasn’t replied or acknowledged my correspondence. I’d now like to write to him again but send a copy of the request to someone senior in Marriott Guest Relations so that he might take the request more seriously. I don’t know any other way - apart from asking the Hotel - to get $1.60 to the local police department. There seems to be no cost-effective way of getting the $1.60 from the UK to the police. No cash allowed!
